A series of workshops where researchers analyse texts or discourses considered to be in opposition to the theoretical and political premises of their practice

Reading the Enemies is a research project organised by artist and theorist Jaakko Karhunen together with scholar Jussi Palmusaari, and hosted by the Material and Visual Culture Research Cluster at Middlesex University. It consists of a series of workshops taking place between May and November 2018, where invited speakers from the broad range of humanities and the arts present readings of their “enemies” – that is, texts or discourses that they deem to be in opposition to their own theoretical or political premises.
