Within the art and design academy we witness few of the expanded possibilities that lie between writing practices and the object. This one-day workshop will combine theoretical and practical approaches to consider different writing-object relationships, including: writing about objects, writing as an object, writing to generate objects, etc.

This international two-day conference, Parallel of Art & Life: Exhibitions and the Independent Group includes a graduate student session with contributions by researchers currently researching aspects of the Independent Group, including students from Middlesex, Harvard, UCL, Kingston and Reading universities. Exhibition Opening. Co-curated by Professor Anne Massey with Matt Williams to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the ground-breaking exhibition Parallel of Life & Art, this exhibition presents original art works including paintings, drawings and photographs by John McHale, Magda Cordell, Nigel Henderson, Eduardo Paolozzi and Richard Hamilton, alongside related designed objects and ephemera from the Independent Group.
