Associate Professor in Fine Art & module leader
I use printmaking as a broad form of visual art practice.Using both traditional methods and digital technologies my work often strays from purely edition printmaking into variable series, singular extended printworks and particularly printed three dimensional forms. I am more interested in using print to construct independent and unique works through collage and mixed , combined printmaking processes, printed on various different materials and found objects. Hence the works cross over the bounds of sculpture and painting but use the qualities of different printmaking processes as the major form of expression.
My interests cover French and German medieval sculpture and relief print, the carnivalesque sense of the contemporary world, British social-political history and a growing unease about the application of modern biological sciences to the cultivated and natural world.
