Lecturer in Fashion Communication and Styling
David is a graduate of Fashion Design from the Limerick School of Art and Design, Ireland. His work is marked by his exploration of media, materials, process and output across Design, Illustration, Styling and Photography.
From Creative Direction and Fashion sketching to live art projects his professional practice directly feeds into his teaching with over 15 years experience of lecturing in Ireland and the UK.
David's work is primarily concerned with the space that exists between particulars, the connectivity between processes of abstraction and realization of concepts in a visual language.
David is Co founder and Director of Slashstroke, a multilateral creative organisation working with a wide range of clients from Art, Fashion, Design and Education offering bespoke projects from live interactive events, educational programs, Creative Direction and production.
In addition to this, Slashstroke offers an online platform and magazine exploring connectivity through creativity across disciplines. The platform brings together lateral ideas of work from around the world, each issue of the magazine explores a particular theme laid open for discussion and interpretation across media.
Slashstroke is currently developing a range of research and educational programs exploring the relationship between communities, educational institutions and creative industries. One example of this is The Hackney Street Style School. A project run in association with Middlesex University, Create London and Hackney Council making tangible links between local youths, career paths and education, will run again in 2014.
Previous clients include The Victoria and Albert Museum, London Collage of Fashion, The Sunday Times, Harriet Anstruther and Create London.
